What’s your favorite part of working at a local, community-focused bank?
I’ve always been passionate about community banks, and the biggest draw to Mobile for me was transitioning from a large bank to return to the true community banking spirit. Being closely connected to the community allows us to offer personalized service and build relationships that larger institutions can’t match. The sense of belonging and the opportunity to make a real impact is what truly motivates me in my work.
Given your expertise, what key piece of financial advice would you give to someone today?
I’m a big believer in the importance of financial literacy, especially for young people. My advice is to start saving early—it’s never too soon to begin. With my daughters, part of their birthday gifts have been books on financial literacy, because I want them to grow up with the knowledge and habits that will set them up for success. Teaching young people about money early on can make a world of difference in their financial futures.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself!
I spent 10 years in the military, and during that time, I took on an unexpected role—balancing my comrades’ checkbooks! Back then, it seemed like everyone was writing bad checks, so I became the go-to person for helping them stay on track with their finances. I also jumped out of a plane about a dozen times as part of my work with the 82nd Airborne Division, although, ironically, I’m still afraid to fly.
